At Abundant Living, we take your privacy seriously. This Privacy Policy explains how we handle your information when you use our budgeting app.

The short version: Your financial data is stored securely on our servers with local caching on your device for offline access. We collect only what's necessary to provide the service, and we do not sell or share your data with third parties for marketing purposes.

Information We Collect

Account Information

Depending on how you sign up, we may collect:

  • Email/Password Registration: Your email address and a securely hashed password
  • Google Sign In: Your email address, name, and profile picture (optional)
  • Apple Sign In: Your email address (which may be a private relay email) and name (optional)
  • Anonymous/Guest Mode: No personal information is collected—data is stored only on your device

Financial Data

The financial information you enter into the app, including:

  • Budget categories and allocations
  • Income and expense transactions
  • Account balances and transfers
  • Currency and app preferences

For registered users: This data is stored on our secure servers and cached locally on your device for offline access.

For anonymous/guest users: This data is stored only on your device and is not transmitted to our servers.

Usage Data

Basic technical information for app functionality, such as device type, browser information, and PWA installation status. We do not use third-party analytics services.

Cached Data

To enable offline functionality, our app caches data locally on your device using IndexedDB. This data stays on your device and syncs with our servers when you're online (for registered users).

How We Use Your Information

We use the information we collect to:

  • Authenticate you and secure your account
  • Store your financial data securely on our servers
  • Sync your data across devices
  • Enable offline functionality through local caching
  • Provide customer support when you contact us
  • Improve app functionality and user experience

Data Storage & Security

For registered users: Your financial data is stored in a PostgreSQL database hosted by Neon in the EU (Frankfurt region). We take security seriously:

  • All data is encrypted in transit using HTTPS/TLS
  • Passwords are securely hashed using bcrypt
  • Database access is restricted and secured
  • We do not store sensitive payment information—all payments are processed by Apple App Store or Google Play Store

For anonymous/guest users: Your data is stored entirely on your device using localStorage, sessionStorage, cookies, and IndexedDB. This data never leaves your device.

Local caching: For offline functionality, data is cached locally on your device using IndexedDB. This allows you to use the app without an internet connection.

Data Sharing & Third Parties

We do not sell or share your data with third parties for marketing purposes.

The third-party services we use to provide the app:

  • Neon: Database hosting (PostgreSQL) in the EU
  • Vercel: App hosting and infrastructure
  • Google OAuth: Optional authentication method
  • Apple Sign In: Optional authentication method
  • Apple App Store / Google Play Store: Subscription payment processing
  • Google Sheets API: Optional data export feature (if you choose to export your data)
  • Google Fonts: Font loading for the app interface

We do not use third-party analytics, error tracking, or advertising services.

Your Rights

You have control over your data:

  • Access: View all your data within the app
  • Modify: Edit your financial data anytime through the app
  • Delete: Delete your account and all associated data by contacting us
  • Export: Export your data to Google Sheets (optional feature)
  • Clear Cache: Clear locally cached data through your browser or app settings

Cookies & Local Storage

We use minimal browser storage for essential functionality:

  • Authentication Tokens: Stored securely to keep you signed in
  • IndexedDB: Caches your financial data for offline access
  • Local Storage: Stores app preferences and settings
  • Service Worker Cache: Enables offline functionality for the PWA

We do not use tracking cookies or third-party analytics.

Children's Privacy

Abundant Living is not intended for users under 13 years of age. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13. If you are a parent or guardian and believe your child has provided us with personal information, please contact us so we can take appropriate action.

Changes to This Privacy Policy

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. When we make changes:

  • We will update the "Last Updated" date at the top of this page
  • For significant changes, we may notify you through the app
  • Your continued use of the app after changes constitutes acceptance of the updated policy
